Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) or Bandung Insitute of Technology is the oldest engineering school in Indonesia. It was firstly established as Technische Hoogeschool (TH) in 1920. In 1959, the present Institut Teknologi Bandung was founded by the Indonesian government as an institution of higher learning of science, technology and arts, with a mission of providing education, research and service to the community. ITB is located in Bandung city (the capital city of West Java Province), a mere 3 hours’ drive from Jakarta (the capital city of Indonesia). The city of Bandung lies on mountainous area with an altitude of 770 meters and has an average daily temperature of 23oC. The ITB main campus and its other satellite campuses, cover a total area of 770,000 square meters.

In line with its mission to become an outstanding, distinguished, independent, and worldwide recognized university, ITB sustains quality educational programs. In 2016, ITB has been named as the best university in

Indonesia according to Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. 2017 QS University Rankings has positioned ITB in rank of 86 in Asia and 331 in the world.

ITB comprises of 12 faculties and/or schools, providing 53 Bachelor programs, 51 Master programs and 27 Doctoral programs across Science, Engineering, Art, and Business field of studies. In 2017, 26 study programs have obtained accreditation from various international accreditation bodies such as ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), ASIIN (German Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics), KAAB (Korea Architectural Accrediting Board), RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry), JABEE (Japan accreditation agency for study program in engineering, agriculture and science) and ABEST21 (The Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow, a 21st century).

As premier institute of higher education, the academic degree of ITB normally completed in 4 (four) years for bachelor degree, 2 (two) years for master degree, and 3-4 (three to four) years for doctoral degree. At present, ITB offers undergraduate international programs conducted in English as the primary language of instruction. Those international programs are open for both foreign and Indonesian students. As part of the international program, students will spend one-or-two semester overseas at the ITB’s partner universities on an exchange or double-degree scheme. Most of master and doctoral programs at ITB welcome foreign students as many of ITB professors and researchers are internationally well known. ITB encourages international mobility program for its students and staffs, at present ITB hosts student exchange program partnering with more than 30 overseas universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.

Universitas Airlangga, as one of the highly reputable public universities also the second-oldest university in Indonesia, is located in Surabaya, the biggest city in the eastern part of Indonesia. Surabaya is the commercial and administrative capital city of East Java Province; a thriving business and industrial center and the province’s main port. Surabaya is well known as the city of hero, and strategically is located right in the center of Indonesia. Bromo, Yogyakarta, Lombok and Bali.

Universitas Airlangga was first founded in 1948 and officially established by Indonesian Government Regulation in 1954. It started with a medical school and school of dentistry. Now Universitas Airlangga hosts 15 faculties with more than 35,000 students. Universitas Airlangga has university hospitals for the faculties of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, and Dentistry, as well as a tropical infection hospital for its Institute of Tropical Disease. The university is also equipped with biosafety level three facilities.

As the biggest university in the eastern part of Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga is currently projecting itself to be a world class university. The projection is of course not merely a symbol or empty words. The consequence of this projection is necessity to organize all aspects so that Universitas Airlangga can arrive in the midst of academic civilization in the world and attain respectful recognition as an institution of higher education which has an international reputation.

Each year, Universitas Airlangga receives a number of international students coming from various countries and from different programs, such as from the Darmasiswa Program, which is intended for learning the Indonesian language and culture from six months up to one year. There is also another program in which UA regularly receive international students, called KNB (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang), a scholarship program by the Directorate General of Higher Education given to students from developing countries to pursue their master’s degrees at some of the most prestigious universities in Indonesia; and of course, students from the neighboring ASEAN and Asian countries are also welcome.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has called for a new way of giving students opportunities to gain new experiences, one that does not confine to physical space. Thus, we are hereby proud to announce that AMERTA is now available online for free. In exchange, students will earn transferable credits for the courses taken.

AMERTA is an international semester exchange program hosted by Universitas Airlangga to offer international students overseas take an opportunity to partake in studying for one semester in Universitas Airlangga. This program is available for international students who are interested in a number of uniquely Indonesian perspective subjects in social and cultural aspects, economics, natural sciences and health/life sciences.

Inaugurated in 2014, it was successfully conducted for its first batch. All courses are fully delivered in English, and students are given some benefits such as Indonesian language learning, cultural trip, international events, and online learning delivered by overseas academics throughout the program.

AMERTA focuses on the current issues happening in Indonesia-a developing country-amidst the dynamic nature of globalization and sees them through the perspective of natural, health and social sciences. Natural and health sciences provide a wide array of knowledge about Indonesian biodiversity, the dynamic of tropical medicine development and community empowerment in health sector, especially in Indonesia as a developing country; whereas social sciences offer the dynamics of Indonesian urban culture, the creative economy and society as the impact of globalization.

Detail Condition

Universitas Airlangga designs LINGUA for international students who wish to expand their knowledge and experience through learning the Indonesian language and culture. We hope that the more international students come to UNAIR, the more they will know Indonesia, along with its local characteristics. This program could be a medium where students learn to be global citizens through various cultural and educational activities.

LINGUA offers a full waived tuition fee for Indonesian language and culture enthusiasts willing to learn and understand the subjects via intensive lessons. This program will be conducted online for one semester (5 months). It comprises two learning programs: LINGUA Level A1 & A2, which focuses on the beginner-level lesson, and LINGUA Level B1 & B2, which consists of the intermediate level lesson.

Through synchronous and asynchronous online learning, students can improve and develop their practical life-skills of understanding the Indonesian language and culture. After accomplishing this program, students will achieve the certificate of attendance and transferable academic transcript.

The history of higher education in Laos could be traced back to over half of a century ago. However, the National University of Laos (NUOL) was officially established on 5 November 1996 by integrating ten higher educational institutions namely Vientiane Pedagogical University, Polytechnic University, University of Medical Science, Nabong College of Agriculture, Dongdok College of Forestry, Tadthong College of Irrigation, Institute of Architecture, Institute of Telecommunication, Institute of Transportation, College of Electricity and Electronics and Centre for the Establishment of Veunkham Agro-Forestry University.

By the time of its establishment, NUOL comprised only eight faculties with few hundred administrative and teaching staff members. By 2016, however, the university includes 12 faculties, two institutes, one Central Library, five centres, one hospital, 10 offices and one Gifted School.

The National University of Laos is the leading higher educational institution, which specializes in teaching, conducting research in diverse disciplines. The NUOL functions as a think-tank for the Government of Laos and serves general society with expertise and qualified human resource.

When the National University of Laos was established in 1996, there were only eight faculties, which offered less than 50 undergraduate programmes. NUOL gradually grew in terms of quantity and quality. By 2016, The University includes 12 Faculties, which offer 100 undergraduate programmes, 44 Master’s Programmes, and three Doctoral Programmes.

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Kuala Lumpur is ranked as the second best university in Malaysia (Times Higher Education 2016) and acknowledged among the top 400 universities in the world (QS World Ranking, place 376). UPM is a public university, established in 1931. It has 16 faculties and approximately 24 000 students. The university is located just outside the capital of Kuala Lumpur and is among the elite institutions in the city.

Was first established as the School of Agriculture in 1931. The school was located on a 22-acre piece of land in Serdang and offered two programmes - a three-year diploma programme and a one-year certificate course in Agriculture. In 1947, the school was declared the College of Agriculture Malaya by Sir Edward Gent, the then Governor of the Malayan Union.

UPM is a multidisciplinary university that has 83-years of history and located strategically within the Multimedia Super Corridor, which is only 10 minutes’ drive to Putrajaya and 30 minutes’ drive to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre. As one of the largest universities in Malaysia, UPM is also a key player in contributing to the growth of learned and skilled human capital in the nation. UPM presently has more than 32,000 students enrolled in its 78 bachelors, 7 diploma and 47 postgraduate programmes at the Masters and PhD levels (with more than 250 fields of studies). Except for the diploma programmes which are offered exclusively at UPM’s branch campus in Bintulu, Sarawak all other courses are offered at the main campus in Serdang, Selangor.

he University of Malaya is a public research university located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the oldest and most esteemed university in Malaysia. The university's name was abbreviated as Malaya during the pre-independence period.

University of Malaya has its roots in Singapore with the establishment of King Edward VII College of Medicine on 28 September 1905. University Malaya was established on 1949 October in Singapore with the merger of the King Edward VII College of Medicine and Raffles College (founded 1929). The growth of the University was very rapid during the first decade of its foundation and this resulted in the setting up of two autonomous Divisions on 15 January 1959, one located in Singapore and the other in Kuala Lumpur. In 1960, the government of the two indicated that the two divisions of the University of Malaya should become autonomous separate national universities, one located in Singapore (later becoming the National University of Singapore) and the other in Kuala Lumpur (retaining the name University of Malaya). Legislation was passed in 1961 and the University of Malaya was established on 1 January 1962.

Today, it has more than 2,500 faculty members. In 2012, UM was granted autonomy status by the Ministry of Higher Education. As the first modern university established and one of the two national universities in Vietnam, VNU has undergone various stages of development: the University of Indochina established on 16 May, 1906; Vietnam National University (November, 1945); the University of Hanoi (June, 1956). In December 1993, VNU was reorganized on the basis of amalgamating the University of Hanoi and some other leading universities in Hanoi.

VNU is the largest comprehensive higher education and research center in Vietnam. VNU is entrusted with the task of producing highly qualified human resources and talents for the industrialization and modernization of the country.
